Congratulations to Josh Putnam #212 on his win tonight at NAS in the Late Model Stock/Crate Class. Josh set quick time out of ten cars with a time of 14.13. Compared to the Late Model times, had he been in that class, he qualified third fastest of the Late Model Supers! Cool. Josh started outside pole in the Late Model Stock/Crate feature and quickly jumped to the lead. Even with several cautions, Josh still led the race for all 20 laps of the feature. Great job Josh!

AUGUST 17, 2007 DUCK RIVER SPEEDWAY
For a race that was not on the track's schedule and only had 6 days advance notice, 24 2bbl/crate late models showed up at "the Duck" Friday night. In qualifying, David Gentry set the pace with a 13.673, and Killen, Alabama's Josh Putnam was 2nd quickest with a 13.750. The field included some of the best crate motor powered late models, such as Frankie Beard, Frank Ingram, Derrick Rainey, and Chris Tays.
During the hot lap session just before intermission, Gentry's car started smoking and he pulled into the infield. Gentry's fans wondered if the night was over for the local driver, who is currently at the top of the StormPay.com points standings. It turned out to be a loose power steering hose and he lined up on the outside pole position for the feature. Gentry lead every lap on his way to a $1000 win, running his favored high line. Putnam followed Gentry for almost the entire race and was passed by Daniel Miller in the closing laps. Local racer, Josh Lawwell had a good fourth place run, and Woodstock, Georgia's Frank Ingram finished fifth.

Josh had a not so great night in the feature race at North Alabama Speedway tonight.  He qualified third fastest with a 15.02 time.  Just a few laps into the feature, Josh spun and had to restart the race in the rear. Steadily moving toward the front, Josh spun again. This time because the car in front of him jammed on his brakes and Josh had to spin to keep from ramming into the back of the #7 car.

SEPTEMBER 1, 2007 THUNDERHILL RACEWAY
Late Model Stock/Crate heat number one was a race right down to the wire as Josh Putnam led the first five laps but it would be Michael Greer leading the final three as they crossed the line side-by-side with Greer taking the win by a bumper. The first caution came on lap three for Marvin Parker as he spun in turn four. The red flag came out on lap five when Russell Gautney and Todd Clemmons took a trip off turn three.

What a race in the Late Model Stock/Crate class feature!! One restart, six cautions, two red flags, and then the time limit cut this race to fourteen laps completed instead of 20. The first caution came on lap two as Josh Putnam spun in turn four on his own, second and fourth caution came out for Robert Ardry’s two spins … the two caution rule got another one. On lap three the three cars of Michael Murphy, Russell Gautney and Jehdiah Ardry all collided in turn one with Ardry being transported with shoulder and rib pain. Michael Greer led from the drop of the green and held on to the checkered to take his second win of the season in this class. WHO was the winner? After post race inspection (tires) Greer was DQ’d and Putnam was given the win …. BUT it was later realized that the tire rule inspection was INCORRECT and Greer was declared the legal winner. What a race these guys put on heat and feature. After Putnam spinning on the second lap, he came back to take the second position and was putting heat on Greer. Great race!!!

Late Model Stock-

What started out as a not so great night for Josh, ended on a much better note. Discovering a broken j-bar after hot laps, it looked like Josh wasn't going to get to race. Josh wasn't able to make the repairs in time to make the heat race. But after some last minute engineering to compensate for the broken j-bar, he was able to make the feature. Starting the feature in the rear, within 2 laps Josh was knocking on the backdoor of the pole-sitter first place car. A slip off of turn one, when Josh spun himself to keep from getting into the back of the front place car of Stacy Tyler, caused Josh to have to go to the rear. Within 2 laps of the restart, Josh was once again in second place. Josh waited patiently until the last lap to make his move. And move he did! Right on past the first place car of Stacy Tyler to take the checkered flag for the win.
